Google prepares to offer a brand new system called Google Chrome OS.

 Chrome OS is an operating system which enables your computer to run. Google is offering Chrome OS for free, however there is a small detail that the user has to accept.
It needs to be constantly online to use. All of your files have been kept in Google servers not in your personal hardware.
Office files, photos, your documents and all of your other files will be uploaded on Google servers It might look like a very suspicious move from a company like Google considering their track record about user privacy until now. Actually this concept is called cloud computing and it relies on storing your information on a web server instead of a local hard disk. Interesting thing is that Google did not invent the concept, but they are the ones who are very vocal about the system.

Google indicates in many different places that cloud computing is the future of the computers, however there are some people who disagree with them. Richard Stallmann is the founder of GNU Project and Free Software Foundation. He is a software freedom activist and a very well-known and respected figure in computer industry. He is among the ones who publicly raise his voice and tell the criticism about the concept of cloud computing. In his statement he underlined the importance of users dealing with their information instead of giving it to a third party company to care about it and he clearly states that he thinks that it is not a good idea to use web based programs like Gmail and giveyour precious data into to the hand of another. He concluded his statement with the words : One reason you should not use web applications to do your computing is that you lose control. It's just as bad as using a proprietary program. Do your own computing on your own computer with your copy of a freedom-respecting program. If you use a proprietary program or somebody else's web server, you're defenseless. There are some very controversial moments in the history of the company, but which company in this scale doesn't have such after all. Even with all the controversy, it is very hard to deny the innovations that Google brought to our lives. As the most innovative and powerful internet technology company, Google seems to show no sign of slowing down in the foreseeable future.
