Genu!ne Fashion: World’s longest dress

London-based fashion designer Henry Holland has created the world’s longest designer dress. Unveiled exclusively at the opening of Trinity Leeds – the only major shopping centre to open in the United Kingdom in 2013.

The dress, which measured in at a giant 15 metres high (the height of 3 double decker buses) and is 480 square metres wide, was worn by Cirque Du Soleil star Colette Morrow and was the biggest talking point of the centre’s opening event. The dress emerged from a mammoth gift box in front of shoppers in the central atrium of Trinity Leeds, was layered in yellow and pink polka-dots and typical of House of Holland’s playful designs. To make the creation even more breathtaking, it was smothered with thousands of Swarovski crystals, too!

“Curating the launch ceremony for Trinity Leeds gave me the opportunity to celebrate fashion in a totally unique way. I was challenged to deliver a spectacular show that would excite Leeds’ shoppers and propel Trinity Leeds into the fashion spotlight,” explained Henry Holland.

Trinity Leeds will be constantly bringing leisure and lifestyle brands to its customers in the city centre, as they combine shopping, events, pop-up shops and more throughout the calendar. Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing also opened his pop-up candy store, Candy Kittens, during the opening event – ensuring there was plenty for Leeds shoppers to see and be a part of.

Previously, Guinness World Records recognized the world record for the largest dress which measured 150 metres (492 ft 1 in) long and 50 metres (164 ft) wide and was created by Strecy Sankhe of India.

While, the Guinness World Record for the longest wedding dress train measured 2488.65 m (8,164 ft 10 in) and was created by Lichel van den Ende of Netherlands.
